Hello I am Scott Oldford
Ok let me start off with saying that I have hade this palm for four months now and I am very pleased of what palmone has done with it.
First they introduced the Palm Tungsten T in the month of November 2002 it only hade 16 Mb of ram and palm os five it was also a lot darker then the current T2.
Then on July 23, 2003 palm announced the Palmone Tugnsten T2 this was the one that everyone was waiting for and I am sure glad that I bought it. So Your probely asking right now what is the big deal with the T and the T2 this is the deal. The Palmone Tungsten T2 now runs on OS 5.2.1, has the best thing to handwriting Graffiti 2. Now alot of people says that they hate this but how is this possible. It has 32 megs of RAM (29.7 megs left after the main apps voice memo etc.) Everyone though that the Tungsten T2 was going to bragg about a colored MB's of memory but I guess that left that up to the T3. It got a very transflective color display which is a big change from the recent palmone handhelds with the M515 in mind.
The Design and the great Slider
The Tungsten T has an very nice firm design. The bottom of the unit slides down to show the very large and nicely colored Graffiti2 area. . Palm said that the idea of this was that most of the time palm users use there palm pilot to retrieve data not enter then. It is the smallest palm pilot yet I think when it is closed and is still a nice size when open also .
The unit feels nice and firm in my hand and I think that it could take a lot of beating and keep on fighting. I would suggest this to anyone that is rough with there palm pilot’s because this one is very sturdy. There is a real nice color of this handheld and you feel special when you handle it. When it is compacted it feels very nice in the hand and it tends to grip on your hands. When it is open it is also very comfortable and firm and the slider don’t slip every. One thing with this Palmone pilot is that the stick when you try to slide it I know on the T3 it sticks often and it is sometimes hard to pull it. But not on this great thing it slides perfectly. Some people hate the slider and I am one of the people that love it. A lot of people says it is not secure and it can be broke easily but I wouldn’t point my finger at that because palm has proven that the slider design is a design that last’s. Palm also did a slider test where that pulled up/down 100,000 times so I don’t think it will be breaking and time soon.
This thing is the king of horsepower
This thing is the kind of horsepower. She zips through tasks like my home computer and my laptop combined. The Mp3 quality is great searches are seconds, picturers coming up on the screen and Splash Photo are .687 seconds long and memory card load up’s are faster. With the 144 MHZ processor you can do anything at lighting speeds.
The sweet screen
This is Palm's first high resolution color display screen is one of the best around., Tungsten T2 has a 320 x 320 pixel screen and it is very bright sharp and has good color saturation which is what palm lacked for many years.
How does it compare to models that Sony and Ipaq put to it.... Perfect it is better then most of there high end ones that cost somewhere in the $600-$800
This screen is the best for games like Warfare Incorporated and other game. Some of which are by the best game maker www.astraware.com they have some of the best games around.
The Universal Connector and Connecting Accessories
The Tungsten T2, Has a universal connector which attaches to the cradle for syncing of corse because of the fast 144 MHZ processor it sync’s in no time. I can do a whole sync install a 1 meg file in 14.2 seconds now that is fast. Of course you can get accessories such as modems and keyboards and power packs such as Power To Go which you charge and then it charges the palm pilot. When you buy things for your palm like keyboards and such The Cradle which comes with the tungsten T2 plugs in a AC outlet and charges from there. Of corse it is the same cradle from the M-series and up. Time for a change with palm pilot’s but that change has happened with the new mini-cradle from palm it is very stylish and is $79.99. Of corse palm won’t be shipping this with there lower end model palm pilot’s but I think we will see it with the palms that will come in 2005 and late 2004.
Voice Recorder and MP3 Playback
Of corse a Palm that got a 144 MHZ processor is going to have a great MP3 playback. With this device you can use mono which is the speakers which is nice and loud when playing with Pocket Tunes Deluxe turned at 8x .The Tungsten T2 comes with Real One Mobile Player. Which is not the best and I would go out and buy AreoPlayer or Pocket Tunes Deluxe if not your going to think that the T2 cannot do anything with MP3's. With the 32 MB ram in the T2 you cannot put MP3's on the ram. You will have to buy a SD memory card (Hint: Buy lexmar they are the fastest and best quality.)
For all the money you paid for the device if you buy it you get a nice good quality voice recorder for voice notes. If you are planning on taping along voice note you should get some memory cards. You can tell your palm to right it to the SD card or your ram. (Note: 128 MB memory cards are the best for this you can store about 500 minutes or more.)
Bluetooth
Ok you can have your thought’s on the Blue tooth on this but I find it useless. Unless you want to talk to someone else with a Blue tooth enabled palm pilot or giving directions to other people where to get to a location. You can connect bluetooth to your phone and surf the web and check email. Of corse palm never hade it pre-installed on the palm so it’s on the good old Extra CD which is disk 2 of the set you get.
Software
Some will argue that this palm do not come with good software but I must say that it is not true.
Here is what comes in software for the Palm Tungsten T2
The Palm Tungsten run with OS 5.2.Then included the usal stuff of Address Book, Date Book, Clock, To Do List, Memo, Note Pad Calculator and Palm Reader. Bluetooth software which is on the CD , SMS app, new security software so that you can have 128 Blowfish Encryption.Web Browser Pro included. Palm has finally done something with there 3rd party program they include
Doc2Go 5.3 Pro
Chapura Pocket Mirror
Power One Personal Calculator
Acrobat Reader for Palm
Real one Mobile Player
Kinoma Player and Kinoma Producer
Hand Mark’s Soltaire game
Palm Desktop 4.1 supporting Mac & Windows
As you can see palm put some nice software with this palm to make it worth your while. The total vaule of the software is about $85.00 USD which is pretty good for palm.
Replacement Programs
I know that some of that stuff is not the best so this is what you should replace it with.
Address Book –> Agendus Student or Pro
DateBook –> Datbk5 or Agendus
Calculator –> Megaclock or Power one Sci Calc
Palm Reader –> Isilo or TealDoc or Palm Reader Pro
Note Pad –> Bugme or Colour Sketch Pad
Memo –> WordSmith

Powerone Personal Calc –> Mega Calculator or Powerone Sci.
Acrobat Reader –> Docs2Go 6.008 Office

I know this is a lot of money but they are some of the best programs for doing that stuff.
